The Serving Spoon

Being in business for over 40 years, we have had practice delivering the best experience to our loyal customers.

we’re hiring!

Let’s talk about how you can become part of our growing team.

  •   Wow!  This place is good!  We had a catered breakfast at work today from them and everything was delicious.  I think it's the best shrimp and grits this side of the Mississippi! Maybe even gives NOLA and the South Carolina Low Country a run!  Even getting breakfast foods for delivery worked out well.  The eggs were perfect and they explained all the foods when they dropped it off.  Everyone had seconds and asked for take out containers.  It was a hit for sure!  I'm so glad to know that I'm only a 15 minute drive from home! Thanks Serving Spoon!  You did an amazing job!

I had the bigger spoon.  Waffles, grits, eggs with cheddar cheese and wings (drumette and flat mix).  The service was great. The Serving Spoon as been around for decades and always great to dine when in the area.

I truly felt the love in this restaurant. From the atmosphere of people just smiling laughing and enjoying themselves to the kind staff and the even more delicious food, this restaurant is an ABSOLUTE Recommend if you are in Los Angeles. I can understand why it's a staple in the area. The  Oxtails were fall off the bone tender, that Mac n cheese was how they say “bussin” and my favorite thing, that grilled corn bread ooouuuuuu Ms. Ana Ms. Ana I feel the love. Don't ever change that recipe.

  •   Always good food, great traditions and really good prices. Waffles better than roscoes IMO. Smother potatoes are really good. Staff is phenomenal and will make you feel welcome.

Just landed in LA from an early flight from ATL, while I wasn't really terribly hungry, we had a 2 hour drive to get home so we decided to stop at one of my husbands “go to” spots in the city. I'd never been here and my husband and son were hyping this little discrete spot up. The resultant is in a so-so city strip mall so don't expect an opulent ambiance but the vibe is cool and you're immediately greeted with sincere appreciation for you as a customer. We all ordered some variation of a fried protein for breakfast and I must say, everything was seasoned to a t and I loved the crunch. Coffee cups stayed full and I so appreciated that the waitress furnished everything we needed right off top without eleven asking. Water, silverware, straws, salt and pepper, ketchup, hot sauce etc. Man, it was like the old days when customer service was a part of the dining experience. I loved the food and felt great about supporting a family owned business that's really “about that life”. Good job Erica and Josh!

  •   If you coming to LA for Roscos don't!
The serving spoon is the place you need to come too! When I tell you everything I had was amazing and seasoned and the customer service was friendly and welcoming. I never seen hot fresh food come out so fast! I had the chicken wings and waffles (keep in mind there is an up charge to get the wings) two eggs and some great Mac n cheese! Usually the sides at restaurants like this don't meet the caliber of the rest of the food but this Mac n cheese wasn't the case it was so good with thick cheese! The restaurant itself is a vibe music bumping small intimate spot with great music selections!

Please keep in mind this place is small! The waitlist is definitely waitlisting we tried going before the church crowd and still waited an hour before being seated. If you are visiting like I was and want to visit The Dunes apartments (show insecure) they are right around the corner so helped us kill some time.

I will definitely be back here ask everything was delicious! This wasn't my first time in LA and I had been skeptical after my first few times as I didn't have the best food experience but this place definitely changed my perception of the LA food scene.

Will update my review with pictures

An Inglewood staple, I've been coming to The Serving Spoon since 1984 and still coming to enjoy one of the best southern breakfast joints around. They have never disappointed me with their menu and chefs that prepared pipping hot food brought to my table and placed right in front of me with steam still rising up to my face and nose for me to truly enjoy the sensational smell of grits with butter, scramble eggs with cheese, waffle with fried chicken wings and a fluffy biscuit. If that doesn't fill you up, then nothing will. Hope to see you there the next time I go. Enjoy everything on the menu because it's cooked to order.

I found The Serving Spoon restaurant via @LATRYGUY. I've been following him on his YouTube page and he had great things to say about this place so I had to try this myself.
As soon as I walked through the doors, I was greeted by a very nice gentleman with a big smile and walked me to the counter since I went there by myself. My server introduced herself (Tiffany) and said welcome to the Serving Spoon. I told her that this was my first time here and she then helped me with the menu items. As I was undecided, I went ahead and ordered the chicken wings (6 pieces) and waffles and the daily special which was the braised short ribs. My two sides were mac & cheese and the candied yams. To my surprise, my food came out in no time. I will say, the portions are huge!
The waffles had a crisp texture and sweet taste. The chicken wings were lightly battered with plenty of flavor.
The short ribs had plenty of meat and was so tender, you literally could slice it with a butterknife. The gravy was just right, not runny not too thick. As far as side dishes, there are plenty to choose from. I chose the mac & cheese and candied yams because @LATRYGUY said it was the bomb when you combine the two together. He was right. It definitely goes hand and hand. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the food portion and taste.
I definitely recommend The Serving Spoon. You will not be disappointed.
